Solid waste management is a critical global issue, and your ideas can make a difference. The Solid Waste Management Hackathon is a gathering of creative minds, passionate innovators, and sustainability advocates. Together, we will tackle the complex challenges associated with waste generation, disposal, recycling, and sustainability.

One of the stated goals of the State government is to make Kerala the cleanest state in the country. In order to achieve the set goal, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jyothi Engineering College, Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur in collaboration with Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Athani, Thrissur (Autonomous institution functioning for the Local governments in Kerala) is organizing the hackathon in connection with the Navakeralam Karma Padhathi, which focusing on “Litter Free Kerala” Campaign under the auspices of the local self-governing bodies.

During this hackathon, you'll have the chance to work on real-world problems, collaborate with experts, and use your skills to develop practical solutions. Whether you're a coder, designer, engineer, environmental scientist, or a concerned citizen, your unique perspective and talents are valuable in finding sustainable waste management solutions

Objectives of the programme

  • To provide novel methods to reduce trash, including battery waste, plastic garbage, industrial solid waste, and e-waste.

  • To identify opportunities for integrating smart systems in waste management to achieve value addition.

  • To establish technology-based waste management solutions.

  • To encourage the 3 R's- Reduce | Reuse | Recycle

  • To encourage young minds to think innovatively.

  • To create awareness among youth and kids in waste management practices.
